FDM

-210°f heat deflection for ABS, 260°f for Polycarbonate
-Models are produced at approximately ± .005"
-Orientation affects strength, resolution and build time.
(see sidebar)
-Lead-time is based on part size and geometry
-ABS FDM models can be built as large as 19.7 x 23.6 x 23.6 in.
-Polycarb models can be built as large as 16 x 14 x 16 in.
-Sectioning & assembling larger parts is not uncommon

"Positioning Parts for Strength"
-Important for FDM-

The wall thickness and/or orientation can vary the strength of your part or certain features dramatically.

The orientation of your file can affect your parts features and they may become susceptible to breaking at layer points, but, for maximum feature strength the best orientation can sometimes increase the lead time and price of your prototype.

*NOTE* The best overall orientation, as well as the best pricing usually coincide. It can be helpful to discuss your specific needs, as well as, your intended use of the prototype with C.ideas during the quotation process. FIT, FORM and/or FUNCTION (or all of the Above).
